Project Description Double level project house for large family including one disabled occupant. Designed for full ground floor disability access from street to rear laneway, including the interior and exterior of the house. This included the location of one bedroom and a disability accessible bathroom on the ground floor.
The project was a benchmark design for the Office of Housing who were experimenting with this new disability access model.
The project achieved a five star rating and includes solar hot water, double glazing, thermally efficient construction including the satisfaction of requirements ultimately reflected in Section J of the Building Regulations.
The house is ‘sandwiched’ between adjacent residential properties and its plan, with a series of indented light courts, respects the light and outlook from the adjacent property windows.
